The Pig at Combe - A picturesque country escape!

I have been very excited about visiting this particular Pig hotel as I've heard really great reviews. This was my fifth Pig to visit (so 3 to go after this!) and the first thing iI have to mention is the beautiful remote location, winding through narrow country roads you eventually can see a grand house perched on it's own up on a hill and as you get closer it really has that wow factor! It almost felt like it should be part of a British movie set its spectacular! With the beautiful surroundings and always warm and friendly service it was a perfect relaxing escape!

Location 9/10: Located around 30 mins from Lyme Regis and the Devon coast it is perfectly hidden away to get some peace and quiet and switch off from the rest of the world and just enjoy what every Pig has to offer; comfort, charm, luxury and excellent food! It is very remote, so I think 1-2 nights is perfect if you are then heading on to the Devon coast or going on to Cornwall (I was travelling to Padstow and it was 1hr 30mins!).

Room 9.5/10: This was the largest of their 'cosy rooms' I have stayed in, it definitely felt like one of the next room tiers as it was so spacious! I even had a 'welcome back' card and homemade sweet treats in there when I arrived which was a lovely touch. The view overlooked the garden which was stunning and it was extremely quiet for me to be able to switch off. As usual, the bed was super comfy and I love all the bathroom toiletries! Only miss for not rating a 10 was the TV was tiny but that was only a minor fault!

Dining 8.5/10: On arrival once I had checked in I went over to The Folly restaurant which was rustic, laid back dining and great for a snack or lunch and a drink to relax overlooking the countryside view! I had some of their crackling and apple sauce then one of their flatbreads and a salad which was absolutely delicious! They then have their beautiful dining room with indoor and outdoor seating and then so many cosy rooms where you can have drinks, nibbles and play games or read!

Value for money 9/10: So I had booked their standard cosy room which was £215, this doesn't include breakfast but none of the Pig hotels do you add this on if you choose to! Given the size, view and amenities in the room plus the location itself I actually think it is very good value when you compare to other boutique hotels!

Extras: I also booked a treatment the morning of my departure at the Potting Shed, which is set peacefully within their herb gardens so it was really idyllic. I had a facial and it was really wonderful and would recommend if you visit! All the treatments are 1 hour and £115.

THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 10/10: So I haven't given any 10 ratings out since Finolhu in the Maldives for that overall feeling and this particular Pig deserves a 10! I felt completely relaxed, loved the room, the luxury but also how laidback it felt and unpretentious. This is definitely my favourite Pig hotel so far - but watch this space as I am headed to The Pig at The South Downs in October....!
