The Getaway Guide

The Fish Hotel, England; British charm, perfect for Cotswolds exploring.

Part of the Farncombe Estate, The Fish is located in Broadway very near it's sister hotels, Foxhill Manor and Dormy House. I have always loved these 3 boutique hotels, all offering something very different to each other! We stayed here for both my friend's 30th recently and as part of my hen do last year! It has lots of different types of rooms to offer from standard rooms to their very high in demand treehouses! It is the perfect location for you to explore everything the beautiful Cotswolds has to offer.

Location 9/10: Located in picturesque Broadway, visited by tourists all over the world! It is tucked away in woodland with a long private path to get there, as soon as you arrive you feel like you are at a secret getaway. It is spread across their grounds with the main reception and restaurant, Hook together and then rooms/treehouses dotted around the woodland. For me, as you can walk into Broadway over fields (about 20 minutes) it was a great location to leave your car and not have to drive if you wanted to! But also, close proximity to explore other famous Cotswolds locations like Stow on the Wold, Chipping Norton etc.

Room 8/10: We booked both times just their standard rooms which was perfect during both stays for what we needed! With beautiful British feel decor it was a really lovely room. With fluffy robes too it felt super cosy snuggled on the bed and watching a movie! We didn't have a view with the room but we didn't mind as I was with friends both times we had lots planned so didn't stay in the room a lot! I think next time if I was on a romantic break I would book the room up for a big bath and larger room!

Dining 10/10: a big 10/10 from me! Both times we ate at the Hook restaurant and it was fantastic both times. I love the feel of the bar and restaurant, it has a ski lodge feel to it and so was really cosy (even in Summer!). The breakfast also had a great variety and all was locally sourced. All the staff were also extremely friendly and accommodating! It was perfect in my opinion!

Value for money 10/10: At £200 a night for their standard room I think this is very good value for the location and quality of experience. This includes breakfast and as we were staying on a Sunday night also included £25pp towards dinner in their Hook restaurant! Combined with the location as well I think it is brilliant value for money with nothing spared on quality and comfort.

Extras: both family and baby friendly. Also they are dog friendly too in certain rooms! Would highly recommend The Lygon Arms in Broadway, we had a really lovely lunch there. I have lots of other Cotswolds recommendations too so watch this space as I will do a full review in separate blog with lots of tips!

THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 8/10: I really love it here and would definitely go back. I loved the feeling in the restaurant especially. I haven't given higher than an 8 as I felt some parts didn't have a buzz/atmosphere and was a feeling of separation as it is all spread out. However, I would recommend to anyone especially too if you are looking to explore the Cotswolds it is a great location!
