Mykonos Ammos Hotel, Greece; an escape in the hustle and bustle of Mykonos Town

Where do I begin with Mykonos Ammos! Part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, we stayed here for 3 nights in September after our incredible wedding in Santorini. With washed white walls, furniture and bohemian décor throughout it really felt like a place to relax and unwind as soon as we arrived. What stood out for us was the attention to detail and the service as soon as we walked through the doors.

Location 9/10: located on Ornos Beach with the hotel's own private beach area, just a 10 minute drive away from the centre of the bustling Mykonos Town. Perfect for balancing knowing we could go to the lively bars and restaurant in the evening but then escape the busy streets by the beach during the day. Taxis were 25 euros each way so it was pretty expensive which is why I haven't given it a 10/10 but as the purpose for us was to do some exploring but primarily relax after a busy 10 days in Santorini it was the ideal location! If you were staying for longer, it may be a good idea to have a few days here and then book somewhere else within walking distance of the town!

Room 9/10: we booked a standard double room located on the ground floor of the hotel, with a beautiful terrace. It completely exceeded expectations and in no way felt like a standard room! It was large with a super king size bed and minimal, contemporary décor. All of the toiletries were luxury brand Acqua Di Palma (my husband's favourite!) fully stocked minibar, fluffy bathrobes and even woven beach bags we could take home. As it was our minimoon they even provided us with a complimentary fruit platter and bottle of prosecco on arrival which was a lovely touch. The only thing I would have changed would be the sink location, it was an open floor plan so it was in the room and it would have been better tucked away in the bathroom.

Dining 9/10: big reason for this score is the breakfast!! One of the best breakfasts I have had at any abroad destination. It was a luxurious buffet with homemade breads, homemade pastries, fresh fruit, cold meats and much more with the option to also order cooked options. It was all so tastefully presented and absolutely delicious! Only thing I would have loved would be the option for help yourself mimosas or champagne (I have had this at a couple of other 5 star hotels before and it was a wonderful treat whilst on holiday!) We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but we had lunch on the beach a couple of the days such as their sushi and a club sandwich and would highly recommend. We also got given watermelon everyday by our sunbeds!

Value for money 10/10: we paid £295 a night for the standard double room which included breakfast. I am giving this hotel 10/10 for value based on a 5 star experience from the staff, attention to detail, beach service, breakfast, complimentary amenities, location, outdoor pool and gym. I really felt they had thought of everything so the price was 100% valid.

Extras: they had had a beautiful spa with treatment rooms next to the gym if you wanted to add this to your experience. It is also child friendly although we went out of term times so we didn’t see many families. The hotel will book any taxis, excursions for you and also recommend places to eat at local restaurants. We ate at M-Eating and D'Angelo both located in Mykonos Town and then Apaggio which was a few minutes from the hotel. They were all spectacular and I highly recommend (make reservations in advance!).

THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 10/10: for me, the feeling I had from the moment I arrived and throughout was spectacular! I never wanted to leave and they really did think of everything and go above and beyond for you. We will definitely be back to visit Mykonos to go to the beautiful restaurants we loved and will be staying at Mykonos Ammos Hotel without a doubt.
