Located in the 9th Arrondissement just a 10 minute walk from the Gare Du Nord train station hidden on a quiet street Maison Mere is instantly dazzling with it's chic decor charming you as soon as you arrive. This was my first time visiting Paris and I already can't wait to return I completely fell in love with the beautiful buildings, the food, the tiny flower shops and just wandering around exploring! Maison Mere has just 51 rooms and really makes you welcome with it's laid back, Parisian style and I wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was!
Location 9/10: As I said, it's located in the 9th Arrondissement and just 10 minutes from the train station. We did lots of walking and were able to do all the main tourist sights straight from the hotel! We went to the Louvre (although next time I definitely want to get tickets to go in!), had the obligatory Eiffel Tower photo, got our snaps of the Arc de triumph and wandered round the streets of Montmartre! Overall, if you are up for walking then this is a perfect location!
Room 8/10: On first arrival I did think the room was very small (there were 3 of us!) but we booked a larger room that was suitable for 2-4 but it definitely couldn't have fit 4! However, the decor felt homely, the bed was heavenly and the shower simply divine! They had thought of the little finishing touches like a note telling us the upcoming weather for the weekend, complimentary tote bag and slippers! We also didn't have our room serviced which was a little frustrating but didn't ruin the stay. If the room was for 2 it was perfect for a couple of nights for a city break!
Dining 9/10: We enjoyed lots of delicious food! I had some great recommendations before we arrived and they didn't disappoint! We didn't have breakfast included with the hotel but we were happy with that as wanted to go to the bakeries for pastries anyway - you have to in France! On our first day we had a light lunch at the very traditional L'Elysee Saint Honoré where we sat outside and watched the world go by with champagne. In the evening we then went on to another traditionally French boutique restaurant, Les Enfants Perdus which I highly recommend for their steak and espresso martinis! The next day we had a gorgeous lunch at Hotel Amour in Montmarte and they had the best fries and bread I think I've ever had - a must if you are in that area (you can't book but is worth the wait!). You can also go for breakfast and dinner too - I would love to stay here next time! We then had dinner at Coco Paris which had live singers during dinner which was a great experience and the food was amazing however the service and how expensive it was didn't necessarily make it worth it! For drinks would highly recommend The Hoxton a really relaxed atmosphere and was only 10 minutes walk from Maison Mere. We also had drinks at Chez Prune on the canal after dinner and it was a proper Parisian bar with wine being 3 euros and lots of locals you couldn't go wrong!
Value for money 8/10: We paid £315 per night for a triple room with no breakfast. I think given the location and how nice the hotel was in a gorgeous city like Paris it was worth the money for the 3 of us! However, the room was a little small for us all which is why I wouldn't rate it higher!
Extras: As part of the hotel they have 'Hello Honey' events they host such as drag bingo which was very popular! They also have a co-working cafe and a library you could relax in.
THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 8/10: I really loved Paris and just how beautiful all the sights are! Maison Mere was perfect for what we were after and I loved how stylish the whole hotel was. I would highly recommend anyone going to Paris and staying at the Maison Mere as you won't be disappointed!
