Artist Residence, Brighton; Intimate boutique just steps from the beach!

Updated: Sep 11, 2022

I had a spontaneous trip to Brighton at the start of the Summer, having never actually been before I had been wanting to go for some time and the Artist Residence group has been at the top of my visit list! They have 5 locations across the UK from Brighton, Penzance, London, Bristol and recently opened in Oxfordshire. With lots of charm and character it was perfect for exploring everything Brighton has to offer!

Location 10/10: Set right in the Regency square overlooking the beach it really is the perfect, central location! Walk easily to the beach, pier, centre of the town and the beautiful streets of The Lanes. Couldn’t fault how accessible it was and could also walk from the train station if you weren't driving!

Room 7.5/10: I had booked a comfy sea view room as that was my only option having only booked it a few days before. Really charming with a perfect sea view and you could hear the roll of the waves whilst sat in bed. With a large bath and lots of gorgeous complimentary Bramley toiletries it was perfectly set for a relaxing night away although my only negative was the bathroom itself was tiny!

Dining: I didn’t end up eating at the hotel as breakfast wasn't included so I won't give a rating but had met a friend in their bar for delicious cocktails and snacks which had a really laid back, intimate atmosphere. We then went for dinner close by at a Mexican tapas restaurant called Tlaloc overlooking the beach which I would highly recommend! I then had a delicious breakfast just a 5 minute walk from the hotel at Wolfox which was delicious.

Value for money 7.5/10: the comfy sea view room was £225 and that was a Thursday night and was room only. However, the view from the room and the location did make the price worthwhile but I do think that should include breakfast! Rooms do start from £165 and that’s also at the weekend but as I booked last minute I didn’t have a lot of choice!

Extras: They do have an apartment available which would be great if you are big party! They also have some dog friendly rooms and they do advice not to take children!

THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 7/10: It was the perfect location in the heart of Brighton so ideal for exploring. However, the bar and lounge areas didnt have alot of atmosphere and I've had better value for £225 if I compared to somewhere like The Pig hotels or The Fish in the Cotswolds. I would still like to go to a couple of their other hotels though in the future such as Penzance and Bristol as I have heard really great things!
